A few places (and things) that make me smile....

Sometimes when I'm at work I just need to escape for a while and go to a place that allows me to take a deep breath and just slooooowww down. Someplace where I can think happy thoughts, feel pleasant feelings and just re-group and re-boot. Anthropologie is one of those places.

Anthropologie is a store that sells vintage-inspired clothes, aprons, dishes, furniture, and whatnots for the home. It is definitely one of my all around favorite places. In the city, especially where I work, which is in a very snooty part of the city, you don't find thrift stores, or junk shops. So, Anthroplogie does the trick for me. Do not get me wrong. Anthropologie does not sell at Thrift Store prices. No siree. Also all the merchandise is brand new. Still, the style and feel of everything just gives you that 'gentler time, gentler place' warm all over feeling. Love it!

Sometimes the display in the Ralph Lauren store has a country look to it, which you know I like.
Once again, not Thrift store prices, but still, that warm, comfy feeling.

a girl can't have too many rubber boots, ya know!

And yes, I know it's still way early, but these Christmas trees in Neiman Marcus really, really put me in the mood.

I can't wait to start decorating! I think I'll do it this weekend (maybe?) I'm one of those ladies that likes a tree in every single room. However, this year it will be a challenge to decorate since most of my house is pink and white with touches of mint green. Hmmm, maybe a white tree this year?

"Oh, Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree..."

And speaking of things that make me smile, THIS is what I found under my tree last year.....

Okay, admit it! This is the most beautiful bike you've ever seen, isn't it? When I say I don't like modern gadgets I mean it, by golly! Same things goes for my wheels. I would never in a hundred, million gazillion years be caught on a fancy schmancy 3, 5, 10 or any-speed bicycle. And definitely not wearing skin-tight black pants and tight top that all 'serious' bikers wear. Besides, and not to criticize anyone, but it looks like they take their ridin' so seriously that they don't take the time to look at the beauty around them. They just seem (to me, anyway) in too much of a dad-blamed hurry to get somewhere. Well not me. I put on my big straw hat, my rubber boots and take my time waving at passersby, smelling the sweet air, and taking in nature's beauty all around me.

And sometimes, when I hop on my pretty pink one-speed it just happens to take me down to my favorite neighborhood Thrift store, where I bought this pretty, bright, cheery handbag

Isn't this just a big ray of sunshine? I won't tell you what I paid for it because it would make you jealous if you knew how cheap it was!! (it's a good bag, too. All leather and from Nordstrom. Oooh, I just love a good deal!)

I also bought these picture frames there, too. They were gold and I painted them white. The pink curtains? Same place. I bought the stars at Michael's. They were originally gold and I painted them white, as well. The roses are 'wallies.' Have you ever used them? You just put them on with a damp sponge and you take them off the same way.

And I don't want to leave out these two little sweethearts who bring a smile to my face each and every day! I love them so much that I wish I could take them EVERYWHERE with me (even to church!)

"Mama! Please play fetch with me!" (Can you see her rubber hot dog toy in the background?"

Sally, affectionately known as "Sally Bear"

Thanks for letting me share! It's past my bedtime ((yawn)) so I'm gonna call it a night.

You sleep tight and don't forget your prayers! Pray for our country, our new leadership, our soldiers, and of course all those that for whatever reason are sad and hurting, for God to give them comfort as only He can give. And a big 'shout out' to Him for YOU as well, that He will bless you with places (and things) that make you smile.
