Best! Week! Ever!

So, here I am all dressed up to go to the 'Australian Embassy'.
 Or so I thought.

Instead, I was whisked away to Pulpo on Connecticut Street in Washington, D.C. for my surprise 50th birthday party.

And that's not all that happened this week.
If that's not enough, I just now this very second found out that my birthday celebration will continue when I go to Los Angeles this week to wrap up my summer book tour for
 'The Hillbilly Debutante Cafe'.

We leave Wednesday. If I can laundry done, bags packed and my work done I will post pictures before I leave and tell you about my New England adventures.

I didn't tell you that I just spent 5 days in the North East?
It was absolutely beautiful and I have tons of pictures of my trip as well as pics from the party.

And since I just hit the big 5-0 I think I'll change my blog up a bit and take it in a different direction.

Calm down, now. Don't get your panties in a wad - I'm not going to change that much.

Josh Lucas was wrong.....

I'm not one to go 'goo-goo ga-ga' over movie stars, but I do have a particular fondness for Josh Lucas.

And it's this time of year that he always comes to mind - especially this year.

Back in 2008 the company I worked for hosted a party and Josh Lucas was just among the many, many movie stars that came that day.

For whatever reason, Josh and his beautiful sister (she had the prettiest cork-screw blonde curls I've ever seen) decided to sit with me at my desk and visit.

The sister mentioned that she was a nurse so I immediately popped out of my seat, grabbed the picture below out of my purse and asked:

Is this a boy or a girl?
She was so sweet. I know she must have thought I was absolutely crazy but she simply said,
"It's just way too soon to tell".

Josh took the picture from my hands, looked it over and with that mega-watt smile - the same exact one that lights up the big screen - and confidently proclaimed,

"It's a boy!"

Obviously, he was wrong.
(We'll be celebrating Sophia's 3rd birthday this weekend)

That's okay, Josh. Everyone makes mistakes.

But I sure wish I could see you again because I have another question....

What do you think this one is?

Inspire Me Today

Would you all please do me a favor?

I have a new article published on "Inspire Me Today"

Please take a look and if you want to leave a comment please do so underneath the article on the Inspire Me Today's website.

Also, read the article from some of the other 'luminaries' chosen to leave their little bits of inspiration. Great food for thought, and yes....lot of inspiration!

Book Tour Schedule for Los Angeles

August 3rd, 4th and 5th I'll be on book tour in Los Angeles, California. I am so excited! I've never been there.

So L.A. I have but one question for you?
Are you ready for this Virginia cowgirl?

(I got my 'Hollywood' hair cut because you KNOW once all those A-list stars hear that I'm gonna be there they'll come out in droves.)
I would give my right arm - well, maybe not my right arm, but definitely my big toe for Ellen DeGeneres to show up!!
I LOVE her!! Seriously folks, The Ellen Show is the last program on television that is nothing but good, pure, clean fun....kind of like my latest novel (not to toot my own horn, mind you)
'The Hillbilly Debutante Cafe'

We may have lost our beloved Andy last week, but Mayberry, RFD, does still exist and if you need reminding of that, then you'll definitely like 'The HD Cafe.'

Fans have told me that after reading it they want to pack up and drive straight to El Dorado Springs, Missouri.

And some of you even have!!

If you do that you MUST tell them that you read 'The Hillbilly Debutante Cafe'. The townspeople love hearing that. Consider yourselves forewarned and plan accordingly - these are the friendliest people you've ever met and they'll probably wanna invite you home and give you a tall,
cold-sweaty glass of sweet iced tea and insist you stay for supper. (Yes, they still call it 'supper').

I might add that if you're plannin' a trip soon, (to those of you who've read the book, if you'll remember from the chapter titled,
'The Picnic'), the annual 'Picnic' takes place July 18th, 19th and 20th.
The Picnic is the best time to go!

I'll be prepping for my L.A. trip so I won't be able to attend this year (boo!)

But speaking of L.A. here is my schedule:

Friday, August 3rd
Barnes and Noble (Glendale)

Saturday, August 4th
Barnes and Noble (Glendora)

Sunday, August 5th
Barnes and Noble (Chino Hills)

Ellen, if you and Portia wanna come on out we'll take y'all to dinner - our treat!

And hey - Channing Tatum or Tom Selleck - if you guys wanna come to I'm sure we can find room at the table for y'all, too.

Til Next Time,

UPDATE: My husband just read this and said neither Channing Tatum nor Tom Selleck should bother stopping by.....swoon - after 30 years he still gets jealous. I love that man.

I wish I had something marvelous and fascinating to write about tonight, but I have nothing. Absolutely nothing.

It's hotter than blazes here in the D.C. metro area. One of my book signings was cancelled due to the power outage from the big storm we had.
Fortunately at home though, we didn't lose our power.

Speaking of home, I'll be here until August and then I'll be doing a 3-day tour in L.A.

I did attend a book club in Richmond earlier this week.

They wanted to discuss 'False Victim', but several of them had already read 'The Hillbilly Debutante Cafe' so it was a two for one.

Lovely ladies!

Other than that it's been a boring (read: peaceful) summer.....which leaves me plenty of time to work on the second book in 'The Hillbilly Debutante' series.

What are you doing this summer?
